Obituary of Denise Mobely

Denise Melfi Mobley died unexpectedly at home early morning on May 8, 2012. Her untimely passing has shocked and saddened the community of family, friends, and co-workers Denise has forever touched. Denise's path crossed those of so many others. She was the loving wife to Mel and mother to 8 year old twins, Max and Paige. Her family was a source of joy and pride, and her love and generosity seemed limitless. Her dedication, depth of knowledge and capabilities made her an outstanding nurse. Burning bright in her delight in all things, her enthusiasm rallied those around her and her energy seemed endless. Denise was born March 1, 1963 to Heidi and Michael Melfi. She attended Hollister Grade School, graduated San Marcos High School in 1981. Denise's nursing career began after graduation from the Nursing Program at Santa Barbara City College when she became a neuro nurse on 5 South at Cottage Hospital in 1986. She quickly advanced with her skills and expertise and was a role model for nursing excellence. Expanding her abilities, she transferred to ccu (now medical icu), in 1992. Denise's strengths lay in her passion for nursing and high expectations of herself and co-workers in caring for critically ill patients. She taught nurses how to be nurses. She was the 'first responder' in codes and could seemingly do five things at once. The countless lives she saved and touched with her nursing skill and compassion deepens the loss for our community. After meeting the love of her life, Mel Mobley, and traveling, country dancing, and loving friendship, they wed at Gainey Winery in 1998. Their foundation of love allowed for the births of their children. Denise cherished Paige and Max beyond words. She loved everything they did and ensured they got everything they needed. She coached soccer, helped with almost every school function, and threw the most unforgettable birthday parties. Denise was a playful mother who still seemed to remember what it is like to be a child and reveled in that childhood with Max and Paige. A dedicated wife and mother, a well-respected nurse, the truest friends and a lover of life, Denise will be missed greatly. The world has lost a beautiful and bright soul. Denise will always be with us and her memories will bring a smile.
