Dennis Dacey

Obituary of Dennis Dacey

Dennis passed away quietly on February 2, 2012. Dennis was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Catherine and John Dacey on March 6, 1932. He was one of five children and is survived by his sisters, Mary Kanagy and Catherine Quady, his brother John, and many nieces and nephews. He grew up in Minneapolis and ventured to Los Angeles to go to school. He attended Santa Monica Junior College and stayed active in the community coaching youth sports programs. He and a partner opened a successful Comedy Club in Minneapolis in the 1980s named the Rib Tickler. He moved to Santa Barbara in 1995 where he retired as a stockbroker. In retirement he took on the role as manager of Santa Barbara's Victoria Theater overseeing various children's events and local church gatherings. Denny had a gift of finding an individual's qualities, and was notorious for his "Daceyisms" over the years. He was a friend, coach, mentor and father figure; always willing to share in his wisdom. We called him "D", The D-Man, The Director, Dennis and Denny. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Dennis now joins his mother, father and sister Ann as an angel among us. Thanks and gratitude to the great staff at Buena Vista for their compassion and loving care.
