Obituary of Lynn Wilcoxon

Following a long and courageous battle with cancer, Lynn Wilcoxon passed away on October 5, 2011. Lynn was born in San Francisco, California, on October 22, 1951, to Helen and Robert Prosser. She grew up in Marin County and graduated from Terra Linda High School in 1969. Thereafter, Lynn moved to Santa Barbara to attended U.C.S.B., graduating with a B.A. in History in 1973. For the next 10 years, she worked at Outpatient Surgery at Cottage Hospital where she lovingly served members of the community and formed incredible friendships. In 1984, Lynn began working at the Graduate Division at U.C.S.B. and throughout the next 27 years she served as an advocate and advisor to countless graduate students, staff, and faculty members. As the Director of Academic Services, she compassionately addressed the needs of each student she came into contact with and was committed to ensuring their academic success. Lynn was a loyal daughter, a loving sister, an affectionate aunt, a devoted mother, and a trustworthy friend. She was passionate about her family and her joy rested solely in the happiness of her loved ones. She dedicated her life to her children - always lavishing them with unparalleled love and support. Moreover, Lynn was a woman of God whose unyielding faith was visible through the strength of her character, the selflessness of her actions, and the kindness of her heart. Lynn is survived by: her 3 children, Lauren, Brian, and Eric; her sister Barbara; brother-in-law Jeffrey; her 2 nieces Amy and Kristine; her grandniece Barbara; and her devoted golden retriever Tucker. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 10:00 am at the Living Faith Center, located at 4597 Hollister Ave, in Santa Barbara. Donations may be made in her honor to Habitat for Humanity or the Lynn Victoria Wilcoxon Memorial Fund at S.B. Bank & Trust.
