Mary Meshot

Obituary of Mary Meshot

Mary Louise (Baringer) Meshot, 88, died in Santa Barbara on August 8, 2011, with strength, peace and faith. Mary was born December 8, 1922, in Indiana. She earned her nursing degree from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, South Bend, IN. Mary was introduced to a life of faith through her friendship with Father Ray Massart, CSC, who was instrumental in her conversion to Catholicism. Mary's faith was a foundation in her marriage of 60 years to her predeceased husband, Charles Raymond, and instilled the light of the Lord in their 8 children during their shared life in Santa Barbara. Mary worked as an RN for 45 years making a difference in the lives of patients and their families through her quiet reassurance and humor. Her spirit was radiant in the presence of children and expressed through her creative talent of art, music and singing. Mary left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She made fast friends and put others at ease with a sincere interest in their lives. This special gift was recognized and honored with an abundance of loyal friendships. Mary's elegance, grace and smile were a bright light of gratitude which left an imprint on those she touched. Her unexpected wit, teasing and sense of fun left others feeling loved and appreciated. Mary was a glorious light that brought joy and hope through compassion, patience and acceptance. Friends of Mary are invited to celebrate her life at a memorial Mass with her children (Beth, Tom, Chris, Peter, Teresa, Marge, Clare and Mark) and their families on Saturday, August 27th at 10:00 am at San Roque Church, with an inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by McDermott-Crockett Mortuary. We give special thanks to David Gillon MD, Norma Burch RN, Daniel Litten MD and Cottage Hospital 4 South nursing staff that helped Mary show courage, grace and beauty as she journeyed to the arms of God to be at the side of her beloved, Charles, to dance eternally.
