Obituary of Louis Lasserre II

Louis 86 was born August 4, 1925 to Louis Albert Lasserre and Esolina Mary Gutierrez in Santa Barbara, CA. Louie was the great-grandson of Benigno Gutierrez who opened the first drug store in Santa Barbara on the corner of State and Ortega St's. Louie joined the Navy at age 17 and served on a salvage ship in the South Pacific. He married Abigail Corral January 19, 1952. They had two children, daughter Vivian and son Louie. Louie was employed through the Local Labor Union #591, he retired at the age of 55, and then worked for Santa Barbara County Public Works Dept. Louie was active outdoors, loved fishing, camping & hiking. He is survived by his wife Abbie, daughter Vivian Lasserre-Helfrich (Rick), son Louie Lasserre III, grandchildren Lia Esolina Helfrich (Brian Mohr), Brent Helfrich, and grand nephew Joaquin "Walker" Gonzales. He also leaves nephews Frank Sierra, Ed, Jim & Mike Corral and Shayne Bourbon, nieces, Mary Ballard Glenna Ewing, Veronica Gonzales, Sandi Sierra-Salazar, and Cindy Corral, sister-in-law Cathy Thompson, brother-in-law Ed Corral (Lupe) and their spouses. Cousin Donna Simms. Family members who preceded Louis includes his sister Alma, sister-in-law Imelda Ramirez and nephew Bill Sierra. Rick and Vivian will host a gathering Friday the 24th at the Moose Lodge at 110 W. Victoria Street, from 12:00-3:00.
