Obituary of Sarah M. Lillard

Sarah "Sally" Marie Lillard passed away at Mission View Health Center in San Luis Obispo on November 6th after a long period of physical decline. Sally was born February 20, 1920 to Gyles and Elizabeth Wright in Bloomington, Illinois. At the young age of 3 her parents moved the family to Santa Barbara. She attended Santa Barbara schools, graduating from Santa Barbara High School in 1938. She married William B. Lillard, her high school sweetheart, on December 10, 1939. They enjoyed a wonderful 69.5 year romance before he passed away in 2009. Sally worked seven years at Adams Elementary School as the lunch room manager, making sure the young charges in her care had a healthy and well balanced meal each day. She later worked for several area businesses and was also an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with Harmony Dance Club, sewing, cooking, crafts, golf and spending quality time with family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie Rypma and husband Roy, Liberal, Ks; Sue Morwood and husband Richard, Arroyo Grande, CA; four grandchildren, Melissa Woodie, Hamilton, Ks., Michelle Rypma DVM, Wichita, Ks., Logan Morwood, Santa Clara, CA and Kelly Morwood, Brooklyn, NY and four great grandchildren, Seth, Caroline, Marshall and Emma Woodie, Hamilton, Ks. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Jack B. Wright. Sally's memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM this coming Saturday at the First Baptist Church on 949 Veronica Springs Road with Rev. Hans Kistner officiating.
